OLD FACES RENEW OLD RIVALRIES!

St. Peters, MO – Seven teams laced them up at Matteson Square Garden on Saturday in the 2017 MOIHA Alumni Tournament. It was great to see former MOIHA alumni represent their high schools as they competed for a $500 cash prize. Teams represented were Fort Zumwalt North, Fort Zumwalt West, Francis Howell North (2 teams), Lindbergh, St. Charles West, and Wentzville.

The top four teams after the round robin games made the playoffs, with Wentzville taking the #1 seed as they went a perfect 4-0 in round robin. Lindbergh would secure the #2 seed going 3-1, while #3 Francis Howell North Black and #4 Fort Zumwalt West would round out the top four.

In the first semifinal game #1 Wentzville got off to an early 3-0 lead against #4 Fort Zumwalt West and would never look back as the Indians defeated the Jaguars 6-2 to advance to the championship game. In the other final four game, #2 Lindbergh scored two goals in the last three minutes to knock out #3 Francis Howell North Black. This would setup a matchup between #1 Wentzville and #2 Lindbergh in the alumni championship game.

With Lindbergh having to play back to back games and Wentzville’s offensive firepower, the Flyers were unable to contain the Indians. Wentzville defeated Lindbergh 6-2 to become the 2017 alumni champions.

MOIHA would like to thank all the teams that participated in the tournament. Next year’s Alumni Tournament date is already set for December 14th – 16th. We look forward to another great event next year! Continue to check the MOIHA website and social media outlets for more information. Happy Holidays!
